Job summary

The successful post holder will assist the medical team in the care of practice patients to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education.

 

Main duties of the job

General tasks include basic nursing skills to include phlebotomy, diet and health promotion. The role will also include maintaining stock levels and equipment checks.

 

 

About us

The Medical Group is large, friendly GP Practice working across five surgery sites.

We are currently seeking a Health Care Assistant for a 12 month fixed term position. The successful post holder will be required to work at our five surgery sites covering Meadowfield, Ushaw Moor, Langley Park, Esh Winning and Tow Law areas.

A driving licence is essential due to traveling between surgery sites.

Job responsibilities

General nursing tasks including;

 

  • Phlebotomy
  • Advice on diet and health promotion
  • Patient checks while working to protocol
  • Measurement of height and weight
  • Removal of sutures
  • Basic foot check
  • NHS Health Check
  • Basic dressings
  • Ensure maintenance of equipment and stock levels relating to patient care
  • Attend and participate in all nurse meetings as required

 

 

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good general education including A to C in English and Maths
  • Care Certificate
  • Experience of working in a health care environment
  • Strong IT skills

Desirable

  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Experience in providing B12 and flu immunisations
