Van Leeuwen specialist in Steel Pipes and Tube and the company serves its worldwide customer base via an international network of forty branches in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, and America. Continued success has allowed us to invest heavily in our distribution network by opening new offices, building new warehouses and expanding existing ones.
We are now looking for a Warehouse Team Leader to support our multifaceted distribution operation.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work within our Operations Team in our Middlesbrough warehouse facility.
You will be responsible for managing operatives and planning workload along with carrying out a variety of duties in the warehouse, including processing products on the cutting machines, packing goods, storage of raw stock/material, maintaining warehouse inventory and loading shipments.
The team leader must be able to provide strong leadership, direction and mentoring, thereby fostering and sustaining co-operation and team spirit.
As our Middlesbrough Warehouse Team Leader, you will be responsible for the following day-to-day tasks:
- Communicate with your team daily and ensure activities/ update are clear.
- Ensure your team is cross functional over all processes.
- Enforce HS & E of your team and promote communication feedback.
- Provide cover for other teams / other Team Leaders during periods of absence, holiday, etc.
- Operate fork-trucks and overhead cranes to maintain supply of raw materials to fulfil relevant orders.
- Ensure your team are developed and qualified to conduct their work.
- Assist the operations office team with any queries etc
- Follow workday system processes
- Maintain housekeeping / 5’s standards/Conduct 5s Audits in your area to ensure a clean and safe working environment, and provide feedback and solutions.
- Assist in training new starters / apprentices.
- Ensure all training documentation is completed and entered in to the training matrix
- Ensure effective, safe, accurate and timely stock management in your area. (Scanned/ ID/ Storage/ Location/ Packing)
- Ensure health, safety & welfare of your team/ area, PPE, equipment and environment.
- Accountability for your own safety and the safety around you and not interfering with health & safety implemented from the company in and around the work place.
- Perform daily checks on all handling equipment i.e. fork-trucks, overhead cranes, saws and slings, shunt unit. Escalate to management any findings and propose solutions.
- Be a key holder and to ensure buildings are opened, secured and locked up and alarmed. Taking accountability and ownership while reporting any issues to your manager.
- Plan and co-ordinate, in conjunction with the other Team Leaders as required to ensure demand is maintained and the out-put is achieved while escalating any potential roadblocks with solutions.
- Maintain relevant paperwork for traceability purposes.
- Strive to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Carry out random quality checks
- Liaise with all equipment service contractors regarding breakdown on Saws, Forklifts, Overhead cranes, slings
