This is a specialist role which will require you to conduct comprehensive enquiries for the grant, variation and renewal of firearm, shot gun and explosives certificates, in accordance with legislation. In addition you will be responsible for the inspection of Registered Firearms Dealers and shooting clubs, providing advice or action as necessary.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential as you will be conducting face to face interviews with applicants. You will be expected to work alone with the minimum of supervision. You must be able to evidence an investigative background and an ability to be assertive and impartial whilst making sound objective decisions. In addition you must demonstrate quality and consistency when recording recommendations and rationale in your reports. You must be willing and able to carry out land checks over rough and uneven surfaces and where necessary climb ladders to access areas to inspect security arrangements.
You must have the ability to travel to different locations across the force, using remote technology and undertake all assignments in a timely manner. It may be necessary for you to examine and carry seized and surrendered firearms and ammunition as required. A full UK driving licence is essential.
This is initially a 12 month temporary contract, however there is the potential for the post to become permanent in early 2023.
This role is suitable for part time/job share workers
The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.
If you are currently involved in a PSD Investigation then you will not be eligible to apply for this role.
