The Museum of Making has completed a five year £18m programme and opened on the site of the world’s first factory in May 2021.
Celebrating the area’s rich history of innovation, The Museum of Making is a contemporary space telling Derby’s 300 year history of making to inspire new creativity. A variety of galleries and exclusive events spaces are available to create a beautiful and inspiring backdrop to any event, so we need a talented team of event staff to help create a professional and customer focused environment to suit.
The Role
We are looking for suitable, enthusiastic, and very friendly people to join our bank of casuals to work in The Museum’s Cafes and at events. As a Casual Hospitality & Catering Assistant, you will be responsible for delivering an excellent guest experience for a variety of events and in the Museum’s cafes. Duties will include everything from setting up events to serving food and drinks, as well as other general duties such as cleaning and adhering to health & hygiene. You will ideally have experience of working in a customer focused role and have knowledge of food hygiene regulations, but this is not a necessity. On the job training will be given for all areas of the role. You must have a friendly disposition and excellent customer services skills. You will mostly be situated at the Museum of Making but will also work at our other museum event spaces.
The Person
You will have an eye for detail and have a good understanding of events and excellent customer service. You will be a good team player and enjoy working in a customer focused role and be results orientated. If you have experience of working in a visitor attraction or customer focused environment, then that’s a bonus.
