We have a great opportunity for a Female Support Worker position (driver essential) within our Gateshead Mencap Community Support Worker team, providing support to a women with a Learning Disability who lives in their own property in the Gateshead area.
Experience isn’t essential, we are seeking people who have good values and a positive can-do attitude.
We have a variety of shifts available and can work with you to find out which one’s suit and we can negotiate your contracted hours.
We provide you with a full induction programme including shadowing shifts to ensure you are confident within your role.
What does a typical day look like?
The short answer is, there is no such thing. The people we support are encouraged to live their best lives, including routines, meal preparation, meal planning and food shopping and visits to social opportunities in the local and wider communities such as discos, etc. Some, not all, of the people we support require support with their personal care, but you will receive training within your induction and shadow shifts to ensure you are confident with this.
Depending on the person you support you could be lone working or working two staff together. You will be part of a friendly team that consists of many people who have years of Support Worker experience, so you’ll always have the support of experienced people working with you or to contact.
