Located in the centre of England UHL spans three hospital sites, employs around 17,000 staff and offers a range of acute and non-acute services, including the introduction of a brand new Children’s Hospital in 2020.
We are expanding our team of radiology porters to facilitate the transfer of patients through our imaging departments.
You will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, working to provide an efficient portering service to ensure the smooth running of the Imaging departments.
Working in different areas of the radiology department you will help to assist in keeping the patient journey through the imaging department as efficient as possible.
Successful candidates must be able to work independently as well as part of a team and be adaptable to the work required. Good communication skills are essential. Candidates will need to be able to manage the physical demands of this role including transferring patients to and from the imaging department on chairs, beds, trolleys and assisting with manual handling of patients.

Full time and part time hours will be considered on a permanent contract.
Cross site working may be required with participation in working out of hours, including weekend and bank/public holidays.

About the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust: (leicestershospitals.nhs.uk)
- Transporting patients to and from the Radiology Department between their respective wards and departments in a timely fashion.
- Lifting and assisting patients as necessary, in line with recognised manual handling procedures.
- Ensuring required number of wheelchairs and trolleys are available for use.
- Responsibility for the timely transportation of notes and documentation throughout the hospital, in line with data protection and confidentiality guidelines.
- Responsibility for the safety and well-being of patients being transported around the hospital, in line with health and safety policies and procedures.
- Checking oxygen supply cylinders, both on trolleys and in the department, and replacing with full cylinders when required.
- Reporting incidents, faults and complaints in the appropriate manner.
- Maintaining and cleaning trolleys and wheelchairs used in conveying patients, in line with Infection Prevention policy and procedure.
