1 permanent part-time post (18.5 hours per week).
West Yorkshire Police, the lead Force for the Yorkshire and the Humber Regional Scientific Support Services (RSSS), is looking to recruit a Regional Sample Reception Officer (PACE) to be based at Calder Park, Wakefield.
Providing a comprehensive administrative support function in relation to forensic samples, the role will involve interrogating and updating information on a range of technical systems. This will include the Police National Computer, Socrates and Microsoft packages.
You will be responsible for recording DNA sample submissions and ensuring the integrity of the data in accordance with legislation under the Protection of Freedoms Act (PoFA) and the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE). In addition, you will process and package the DNA samples for onward transmission to the forensic service provider; ensuring continuity is maintained.
The successful applicant will be able to operate computer databases, be able to record information accurately, and have good literacy skills. The ability to prioritise own workload, as well as work flexibly to enable the timely processing of DNA sample submissions, is also a requirement. A knowledge of relevant PACE and DNA legislation would be an advantage.
Please note, due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will be required to provide biometric samples (fingerprints and DNA) for inclusion on the respective Police elimination databases. This is for routine speculative searching purposes.
