SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

General:

• To work under the supervision / direction of the cleaning supervisor and line managed by the Site Manager.
• Clean, stock and supply designated facility areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, toilet cleaning etc).
• Carry out heavy cleaning tasks and special projects as directed by the cleaning supervisor
• Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs
• Maintaining clean, safe and secure school premises
• Promoting health and safety around the school
• Cleaning of floors: vacuuming, washing, buffing, mopping, etc.
• Spot cleaning of spillages and other marks.
• Wiping furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors.
• Cleaning of internal glass on stairwells, doors, windows.
• Emptying and cleaning bins: waste and recycle bins.
• Cleaning toilet and showers including sanitary fittings and surrounds.
• Replenishing janitorial supplies in toilets.
• Report any issues to the Cleaning Supervisor / Site Manager
• Be committed to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children and young people
• Comply with all Archway Learning Trust policies and procedures including but not limited to; relating to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, and equal opportunities, and report all concerns to an appropriate person
• Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
• Establish constructive relationships and communication with all staff and other agencies/professionals
• Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
• Reporting defects to the premises, furniture and fittings, etc. to the Site Manager.
• During periods when the Academy sites are closed to students, the schools will undergo routine deep cleaning. This may include amongst other things washing carpets, high level dusting, wall washing, buffing and polishing floors, ledges, stairwells, etc.

Security:

• Checking and closing windows, switching off lights after area is complete.
• Advise the Site Manager on all matters relating to school security and safety
• Be responsible for locking and unlocking relevant areas of the Trust site buildings/rooms.

Health and Safety:

• Ensure a safe working and learning environment in accordance with relevant legislation
• Take appropriate action to identify, evaluate and minimise any risks to health, safety and security in the school working environment
