Shifts: We have 2 different patterns available. Monday to Friday – 0830-1700 OR 3x 0800-1700, 3x 1200-2000, 3x Rest Days (this pattern includes shift/weekend working allowances)
Customer Service Officer Job description
North Yorkshire Police are excited to announce we have multiple positions for a Customer Service Officer to join our dedicated front counter / enquiry desk team.
This role will put you at the heart of local policing assisting members of the public, police officers, and police staff with a wide range of services. This is a very demanding and challenging role, but it is an exceptionally varied, interesting, and rewarding opportunity to support your local community.
As a Customer Service Officer, you will look to provide a high-quality service to colleagues and members of the public. Other responsibilities will include:
- Taking incident reports from victims of crime.
- Providing advice and support to members of the public on a variety of enquiries.
- Being the first point of contact for all visitors to the police station.
- Completing court-ordered registrations and managing bail appointments.
- Handling surrendered firearms and weapons.
- Processing seized vehicle releases.
- Undertaking a wide range of administrative duties to support Front Line Policing.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Excellent communication skills – the role requires verbal, written, and non-verbal communication skills, and the ability to adapt depending on the customer’s needs.
- Previous experience of using Microsoft Office packages such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Experience of working in a customer service environment is desirable, however we do provide training and development on these skills.
