‘Working alongside you to live well and safely in our community’ is our vision in Swansea Council Adult Services. We are currently making changes to our Direct Payment service. We want to improve the provision of Direct Payments making them more flexible.
To help us achieve our goals, make the proposed improvements and manage increased demand, we are looking to expand our Direct Payment Support Team. This is an exciting opportunity to help us develop a new way of working, to be at the forefront of transformation and service reform and to enable people to be more independent and have choice and control over how their care and support needs are met.
We are looking to recruit a Direct Payment Support Team Advisor. This is a very rewarding and enjoyable public facing role, working within an expanding team closely supporting new and existing direct payment recipients. The role will include providing people with all the advice, information and support to enable them to use direct payments to purchase the care and support they need.
Direct Payments underpin the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014 promoting an even stronger emphasis on Voice, Choice, Control and flexibility and putting the person in the centre of their support planning.
This post will involve working closely with people of all ages with assessed needs as well as unpaid carers. The successful candidate will predominantly be acting as an Advisor, assisting individuals with setting up direct payments and becoming legal employers of personal assistants. You will provide all the advice and information required to enable them to receive Direct Payments and use them successfully to purchase the care and support that they require.
We are looking for someone who is friendly and approachable with excellent communication skills. Someone who is caring and always willing to help others and go that extra mile for the people we support. Previous experience in an advisory role is ideal but not essential. A good understanding of Direct Payments, employment and payroll would also be ideal however, you will receive all the training required to enable you to competently undertake the role.
This is a temporary position for 12 months.
