Fixed Term – March 2024 with further extensions potentially until 2025
Newport City Council are recruiting 4 Employment Support Advisors for the delivery of the Shared Prosperity Fund, Work & Skills projects. We’re looking for experienced candidates or people with transferrable skills, who can work with long term unemployed, economically inactive, participants suffering from in-work poverty or very low skills including, ESOL, basic skills and digital literacy. We want them to offer support to eliminate barriers, improver skills and qualifications and assisting them to secure sustainable employment.
The roles will entail the following tasks:-
- Liaising with colleagues, partners and stakeholders to offer bespoke support packages to participants.
- Delivering initial appointments that include, diagnostic assessments, action planning and rapport building.
- Managing a caseload of up to 50 participants, ensuring that all administration, quality, compliance, and performance targets are consistently achieved.
- Offering In-Work Support so participants have regular contact and assistance during the first 6 months of employment.
- Identification of barriers and assessment of needs, so SMART action plans are created that will enable participants to achieve positive progression.
- Access a range of qualifications and support to eliminate barriers and secure sustainable employment and other project outcomes.
- Offer advice and guidance and employment support including CV writing, interview skills, careers advice and job searching.
- Tracking of distance travelled and progress towards operational outcomes.
- Working within a team and with partner organisations to ensure that participants receive excellent employment and learning support.
We’re looking for experienced employment advisors or candidates with the transferrable skills needed to deliver consistent results on the projects.
