About the role
Our Individual Placement Support (IPS) service offers intensive, personalised employment. The embedded service works alongside our drug and alcohol treatment services with IPS Employment Specialists providing individually tailored support to help people find and choose the right job for them and stay in the role. By using a personalised and strength-based approach to support people, IPS aims to help people find paid jobs within just weeks of being referred to the service. As a Employment Support Volunteer you will;

  • Support to people accessing our services.
  • The embedded service works alongside our drug and alcohol treatment services with IPS
  • Provide individually tailored support to help people find and choose the right job for them and stay in the role. By using a personalised and strength based approach to support people, IPS aims to help people find paid jobs within just weeks of being referred to the service.

About you
We would love you to bring to this role:

  • Enthusiastic and motivated to engage with clients
  • Desire to support people to suit their needs
  • Excellent written English skills
  • Clear communication skills
  • A confident and friendly approach
  • Confidence at using IT as the role requires using our Management Information

System and our online Training Portal.

  • An understanding of the importance of guidelines and procedures relating to key

areas such as safeguarding and information governance

  • Be respectful and non-judgemental
  • Willing to attend and complete relevant training
  • To participate in regular supervision sessions with your supervisor
  • A genuine interest in being part of the mission and vision of Humankind
  • The ability to maintain professional boundaries, adhere to Humankind policies,

engage in supervision and complete relevant training

Desirable

  • Previous experience of supporting people
  • Knowledge of the Substance Misuse Services
  • Experience of liaising with or knowledge of service like the DWP or NHS

What Volunteers can expect from Humankind:

  • Regular supervision and support
  • Induction
  • Training:

Volunteers have access to Humankind’s training platform, Learningkind, and will be asked to complete a number of training modules within their first 3 months, many of these are elearning modules. One session on Safeguarding is delivered by trainers via Zoom, and is 6 hours (with breaks) – there are a range of dates but please do keep this in mind.
