The opportunity;

This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring People Director to join a growing international organisation which has recently benefited from significant investment in both people and technology. As Head of HR for three sites in the UK and the US, the Head of HR will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of Human Resources within the region. This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, operational excellence and strong interpersonal skills to effectively support the organisation and it’s employees.

The organisation is going through significant organisational and cultural change and the Head of HR will play a critical role in overseeing local HR compliance and regulation, promoting employee engagement and development, and implementing HR initiatives to drive organisational success. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Head of HR will work with the regional leadership teams and have line management responsibility for the HR Assistant.

Key elements of the role include;

  • HR lead for 3 manufacturing sites, working as a trusted HR partner for the leadership team on all people related activities.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on all ER matters.
  • Oversee the talent attraction strategy through to onboarding and successful integration of new employees.
  • Root and branch review of the HR processes, procedures and policies and ensuring they are fit for purpose.
  • Leading ongoing change across the sites to drive future growth, supporting the leadership and management team.
  • Strengthen leadership capability across the business, upskilling managers to become business leaders and drive high performance.
  • Create and drive the engagement strategy across the sites.
  • Understand the ER/IR challenges within the organisation and identify opportunities for improvement.

This role will be based on site in Middlesbrough 3-4 days per week with occasional travel to the US.
 

What we are looking for;

 

We are looking for candidates who is excellent at building relationships and can demonstrate the following skills and attributes;

  • Strong track record in an HR leadership role gained within a manufacturing environment such as manufacturing or warehousing.
  • Ability to work autonomously and independently.
  • Experience of working internationally.
  • Strong experience of working within a heavy ER/IR environment and an understanding of the current Trade Union landscape.
  • Experience of leading transformation and change with an everchanging landscape, winning hearts and minds and taking people on the journey.
  • Positive attitude and the ability to engage key stakeholders to drive change and deliver results.
  • Able to flex between operational aspects of the role whilst being able to think and communicate strategically.
  • Used to operating in a smaller business where adaptability and ownership of actions are key.
  • Great stakeholder management skills, able to influence effectively and gain trust quickly.
  • The ability build relationships with people across all levels of the organisation.
