Job Description
We are currently recruiting for Higher Level Apprentices in Engineering (Mechatronics).
At Hyster-Yale we have extensive experience delivering Apprenticeship programmes.
Successful applicants will ‘earn as they learn’ and benefit from a blend of on-the-job development, guided by a well-established team of 30+ engineering maintenance staff, along with day release to attend Southern Regional College to complete an Engineering (Mechatronics) Level 5 Foundation Degree Higher Level Apprenticeship.
We offer experience working with modern equipment across robotic welding, automated painting systems, laser cutting, multi axis machining centres , assembly automation, remotely guided vehicles, plc controllers and plant facilities, as follows:
Welding Department
20 + robot cells (ABB and Cloos) ranging from 8 to 20 axis co-ordinating movement with either linear or orbital manipulators. Both single and tandem torch welding with tooling interchangers. Robot studio used by the maintenance department for building from the ground up of ABB cells in house and by the manufacturing department for offline programming.
Fabrication Department
Trumpf fibre laser cutting machines, LVD cnc hydraulic presses, roundo forming machine, cnc saw with material magazine, powered roller systems with drilling, gas cutting and welding stations.
Paint systems
Multi conveyor lines (overhead power, free and bi-planar) with up to 100 flight bars transporting weldments around the conveyor lines (plc and SCADA systems controlled). E-coat primer dip bath, automated booth, wet paint application via automatic reciprocators.
Cylinder Manufacturing
Cnc saw with load magazine, automated cnc lathe cells, Fanuc handling robots, deep hole drilling machine and skiver machining. Several test rigs and an assembly line.
Assembly lines
Powered roller systems, AGV’s, fuel dispensing systems, antifreeze and brake fluid filling equipment, gearbox test rigs, air manipulators, bespoke off-loading automated equipment and lifting ramps.
Plant Facilities
Site services such as electricity, production gases, water, air, H and V, sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, fire alarm system, backup power supply, 11KV internal distribution system for radial and RMU’s , building and grounds, BEMS system, fuel storage and distribution, gas suppression systems and remote energy monitoring.
Successful applicants will:
- Fully participate in a Higher Level Apprenticeship in Engineering (Mechatronics) through Southern Regional College
- Undertake general maintenance activities within all production areas including minor installations, assisting in fault finding on machinery/equipment, machine tools, paint systems and welding robots and contribute fully to the success of the team.
- Undertake a 2-shift work pattern.
Applicants must:
- Apply for and successfully obtain a conditional offer (proceeding to a firm offer in due course) for a Higher Level Apprenticeship in Engineering (Mechatronics) at Southern Regional College, starting September 2023.
- Possess a minimum grade C in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Hold GCE ‘A’ Levels to include a STEM subject or a Level 3 vocational qualification in Engineering (by August 2023).
- Demonstrate a keen interest in Engineering and Mechatronics, use of initiative, team working and communication skills and enjoy a practical approach to learning and development.
