Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Highways Planner to join our Area 7 contract in Nottingham. This role will be based on-site 3 days a week at Felley Depot, Mansfield Road, Annesley, Nottingham, NG15 0AS.

Working with National Highways, Amey maintain over 700 kilometers of roads across the East Midlands, ensuring the 4.5 million citizens across the East Midlands experience better journeys every day.

We provide maintenance and response across a vast area of some of the UK’s busiest motorways and strategic highways across the east midlands and north of England. As many as 180,000 vehicles a day use certain sections of this vital network.

Our 200+ Amey people provide vital maintenance and respond to incidents to keep the travelling public moving.

The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday on a hybrid basis)

You will be responsible for:

• Assisting in the development and management of all relevant programmes
• Providing advice, guidance and support to the Client and relevant internal teams
• Tracking progress, incorporating changes and forecasting delivery dates
• Assisting in the preparation of periodic reports, statistics, and answers to enquiries concerning the programmes
• Receiving and processing works orders, and working with internal teams to prepare sites for programming
• Assisting with resource programming, to ensure that work can be released for delivery on site
• Allocation of works orders for Pre-Site Inspection, programming or return to client for further information
• Maximising the productivity of the resources through reduction in wasted time, materials and operational cost
• Reviewing works orders for compliance with SLA/Contract compliance
• Co-ordinating labour, plant, materials, supply chain, permits, risk assessments, safety compliance, traffic management, with others where appropriate

We want to hear from you if you have:

• Knowledge of Highways Maintenance contracts & Traffic Management operations
• Competent use of IT systems and packages
• Advanced use of the Microsoft Office suite (in particular Excel), plus other tools/systems defined by the project or client
• Experience of planning and co-ordination
• Good communication skills (verbal/written) and the ability to manage stakeholders at all levels
• The ability to work towards targets and prioritise workload
• Commercial Awareness – billing requirements, SLA knowledge, understanding of how works are paid for
