Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to develop a play therapy provision within the Specialist Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (S-CAMHS). You will join our established psychological therapies service who offer a wide range of specialist comprehensive assessment and treatment service for children and young people with mental health difficulties within S-CAMHS across Hywel Dda footprint.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is located in West Wales in an area of outstanding beauty. It covers the National Park coastline of Pembrokeshire and rolling hills of rural Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire. The area consists of hamlets, villages, market towns as well as some larger towns. The role of the play therapist within S-CAMHS will be; To provide an efficient, effective comprehensive play psychotherapy assessment and treatment service for children/adolescents with mental health difficulties within S-CAMHS.
To be a member of a multi-disciplinary team providing assessment and therapeutic play therapy for a wide range of emotional and mental health difficulties affecting young people, their families and carers.
To support team members from other disciplines in processing the emotional impact of the work with children and young people referred to S-CAMHS who present with a full range of highly complex symptoms and disorders indicating exposure to severe trauma, abuse, neglect, deprivation and adverse childhood experience through applying skills and knowledge from own personal psychotherapy and training.
The post holder will provide consultation and support to caring and professional networks of children referred to the service when this is appropriate as part of the treatment package, and provide consultation for multi-disciplinary staff . Following assessment the post holder will provide play therapy, and acts as a key worker, involving colleagues from within the team and contribute to the development of an evidence based therapy program.
