Job Description

At Muthill Primary we are committed to providing a safe, caring and fun school community where our children are happy, confident and learn to be and do the best they can.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, nurturing individual who has a positive, flexible and solution-focused attitude to join our team, to join our team on Mondays and Tuesdays each week (5.5 hours per day).

The successful applicant will support children with their play and learning. Under the supervision of the class teacher the successful candidate will support high quality learning and teaching in the classroom by working with children on an individual or small group basis and preparing resources as necessary. The successful applicant will also support the class teacher with the delivery of targeted interventions and support for children’s progress in learning in small groups or with individuals.

The successful candidate will have a key role in supervising our children during playtime, lunchtime and on any excursions that may be organised by the class teacher.

The Individual

You will ideally have knowledge and experience of working with a range of learners within an educational environment.

You will be motivated, interested in child development and keen to support learners reach their full potential in our wee school with a real ‘family’ ethos. Knowledge / experience of how to foster positive relationships and positive behaviour would be an advantage.

You will understand the need for confidentiality and be able to work sensitively to support learners and their families.

You will have excellent communication skills and a positive, nurturing approach to working with children.

You will also be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively within a team and on your own initiative, employing a sense of humour where needed.

You will be willing and confident to supporting the school team and pupils with any additional duties that may arise such as; provision of first aid, support for children with specific health needs, providing comfort and care for pupils including cleaning of bodily fluids if needed, assuming specific responsibilities in an emergency evacuation and supporting the wider life of the school.

There are no essential qualifications required for this post, training will be facilitated for the successful candidate where required e.g. first aid.
