The post will be part of the newly formed Commercial Excellence Team who have key commercial priorities to deliver and to build commercial capability across operational teams within HMRC following recent operating model changes. This is a junior managerial role where delivery of key priorities such as training, policy, best practice guidance materials and quality assurance is at risk without you to support the team. A good understanding of Public Contract regulations 2015 is a must.
The contract will run until 31st March 2023 with the possibility of being extended or leading to a fulltime role.
Job Description:
Key activities include:
Supporting process mapping activity
Sense-checking a range of process and best practice guidance material
Linking process guidance to the most up to date documents
Coordinating and managing input from multiple stakeholders into various projects
Managing ad hoc queries on procurement policy sent to the team mailbox
Providing support to the One Way of Working project (a commercial guidance repository and access portal for guidance materials)
Creation of monthly Quality Assurance reports (2nd line assurance)
Creation and submission of quarterly Government policy performance reports to the Cabinet Office
Collating information for and assisting with the drafting of the annual Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) action plan
Coordinating input into a new ‘Commercial Academy’ Training programme and providing organisational support for other training initiatives
Secretariat support for meetings (planning, coordinating, creation of agendas, minutes and PowerPoint presentations)
Essential and Desirable Skills:
Essential Skills:
A good understanding of public sector procurement policy and process and familiarity with the Public Contract Regulations 2015.
Attention to detail, excellent written communication skills, particularly via email when responding to queries
Excellent organisational skills, ability to plan and coordinate input into various team initiatives, to prioritise own workload and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Proactive, enthusiastic and ‘hands on’ with a willingness to get involved and to work as part of a team
Excellent working knowledge of MS Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, SharePoint and PowerPoint
Desirable Skills:
Experience of working in a central government commercial team
