Job summary

A highly motivated, enthusiastic individual is required for the position of RAF HIVE Information Officer. As part of RAF Community Support, the RAF HIVE Service supports the Chain of Command and tri-Service community through the provision of up-to-date relevant information and support. The post is a customer facing role providing customer excellence.

A fundamental part of this role will involve liaising with people internally and externally, therefore, an ability to build and maintain positive relationships is a must.

A practical understanding of modern SharePoint sites, Teams, O365 applications, social media platforms and the ability to multitask.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

As the holder of the position of RAF HIVE Information Officer (HIO) you will be responsible for:

Under the umbrella of HIVE, acting as the unit’s/station’s focal point to provide the whole Service community, including RAF reserves, with current and relevant information on behalf of the Chain of Command, Command Staff, RAF HIVE Management Team, MoD and external agencies.

Be the focal point for local information support to the whole Service community and provide feedback on issues of interest to the unit/s and RAF HIVE Management Team (HMT).

Assist in the provision of operational deployment support, by providing RAF HIVE Deployment Support Information to personnel and their families and presenting at support briefings/events.

Offering a confidential signposting service to welfare and other professional support agencies.

Host and comply with HMT Assurance visits and requests associated with those visits.

The primary duties of the role include, but are not limited to;

  • Assess and respond to the specific information needs of the whole Service community in conjunction with the unit/station and HIVE Management Team through diligent research in the form of RAF HIVE Information publications, RAF HIVE Bulletins and RAF HIVE social media platforms.
  • Respond to all enquiries from the Service community in a professional and timely manner.
  • In consultation with Station Community Support Team, liaise and network with key Service and local civilian agencies to source and deliver information relevant to the local community.
  • Work with the local unit/station and the HIVE Management Team to deliver the RAF HIVE Operational Deployment Package.
  • Act as a point of referral for confidential customer enquiries to the appropriate agencies working within the RAF HIVE Code of Confidentiality.
  • Ensure a high standard presentation for information displayed and communicated to the Service community with RAF HIVE branding.
  • Respond to any new information support needs of the local Service community as directed by the local chain of command and the HIVE Management Team.

Person specification

This is a customer facing role therefore an exceptionally strong organisational skills, be focused on attention to detail, self-motivated and able to achieve results using their own initiative will be required.

Experience in a fast-paced office environment, working on your own as well as part of a team, problem solving skills and the ability to multitask is desired.

The use of IT systems including SharePoint sites, Teams, O365 applications, social media platforms for day-to-day business will necessitate a good standard of IT literacy.

There will be occasions to attend/support offsite meetings/briefings in addition to post responsibilities training therefore a driving licence would be desirable. The HIVE Information Officer role is an integral part of welfare support provisions of the service community therefore a flexible approach to workload and supporting colleagues are key to undertaking this role.

Business hours are between 0800- 1700 dependant on the business needs. Application of the flexible working scheme needs to take this into account. Please note the TORs are under review, although will not change significantly.
