Around since 1923, SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity. We have represented the voice of people most affected by mental health problems in Scotland for almost 100 years. Hours: 37.5hrs per week
Shifts: Various, including weekends, day shifts, evening, sleepovers and on-calls
Salary: £21,499 – £22,287; £11.03 to £11.43 per hour (Salary Point 13 to 19)
Contract: Permanent
About the role of Recovery Coach
Can you demonstrate initiative, compassion, energy, determination and the ability to motivate and inspire people who use our services to develop their skills and self-confidence and realise their aspirations? Support work can be challenging at times, but you go home each day knowing you made a difference.
As a Recovery coach you will also provide practical assistance for individual’s domestic and personal needs such as food shopping, laundry, housework, medication, self-care.
Everyone we support is different, this role involves using recovery focussed interventions, working with people in their homes and communities to jointly develop, adapt, monitor and review person centred support plans, risk assessments and safety plans to help them to identify where their strengths lie and support them in the areas where they may need it. You will be a key or co-worker co-ordinating care, keeping accurate records of risk assessments, support plans, reviews etc.
You will provide direct mental and emotional wellbeing support to 7 people living with moderate to severe and enduring mental health issues to live fulfilled lives and achieve goals. You will support people to understand and develop coping strategies to improve their mental health and wellbeing whilst encouraging individual responsibility and maximisation of personal choice. As a Recovery coach, you will work with people as they take steps towards living independently or moving on.
As a Recovery Coach, you will support people to build their life in the community and achieve their chosen outcomes in partnership with mental health and primary health care services.
St Peter’s service, based in Dowanhill in Partick, is about helping people to live well to achieve the things in life that really matter to them.

Ideally for this role you will have experience supporting people with mental health problems, key-working and case management.
Respect and dignity for the people who use our services is at the heart of everything we do. You don’t need any specific qualifications at first, but what you do need is the right attitude and values.
Supporting the people who use our services means there are a variety of shift patterns over a week including evenings, weekends, sleepovers and on-calls. You will be allocated to a service base but may be required to work flexibly across local services. The service operates 365 days a year.
