Job Description

The Role

At Nexer, our sales and marketing team collaborates across various sectors, including health, education, financial services, charities, and the public sector. We are currently seeking a sales and marketing assistant to play a central role in generating leads and opportunities from our marketing campaigns and events calendar during an exciting phase of business expansion. You’ll be responsible for supporting the management and creation of website content, planning and executing digital marketing campaigns, and assisting in the organisation of our year-round events, most notably our annual UX, design, and digital conference, Camp Digital. You’ll follow up contacts, spot opportunities and support he team with market, client and sector research.

You’ll need to manage and prioritise a diverse range of tasks. One day might be spent crafting compelling website content, while the next day could involve providing support at events with our partners and clients. You’ll also be confident in researching and contacting organisations where we believe there is a mutual opportunity to do great work. This is a junior role, so while a background in sales and marketing is not mandatory, we do prefer candidates with a relevant education, experience in creating written content and some understanding of customer service, or digital marketing. We are especially interested in individuals with knowledge of the tech and design sectors and some familiarity with agency ways of working.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct market, client and competitor research to support our sales and marketing strategy and business goals
  • Work with the marketing manager to plan and host excellent events including workshops, roundtables and conferences to support our client relationships, position our brand, and solidify our reputation
  • Write clear, informative, SEO-optimised content for our website, including blog posts and case studies showcasing our client work
  • Work in close partnership with account managers and our partners to co-create specific campaigns tailored to our key sectors of focus
  • Find and qualify opportunities for new business contacts, through Linked In, your own sector research or those listed on bid portals, frameworks and procurement channels
  • Support the planning and execution of digital marketing campaigns, including content creation and PPC advertising, following up contacts made to introduce our team
  • Support the work of our PR partners to create strategic outputs and boost the visibility of our work
  • Contribute to internal initiatives, including networking and events

Skills and experience

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Some experience in social media or digital marketing, and leveraging digital channels to drive brand visibility and engage target audiences effectively
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and engaging manner
  • An understanding of digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media, email marketing, and analytics
  • Good organisational skills and the capability to manage multiple tasks and projects and meet deadlines
  • A creative mindset, with the ability to think outside the box on new strategies and approaches
  • A collaborative approach, with a willingness to work closely across our teams and partners
  • A positive, proactive attitude – a self-starter who can hit the ground running

In addition, we’d love it if you have:

  • Have an understanding of how agencies work commercially and operationally
  • Have some knowledge and understanding of the tech sector

A few more details about the role

This is UK-based role, with travel to client meetings and our office locations expected on a regular basis. We can and do support remote/hybrid working, as well as office-based, and will talk to you about your preferences at interview stage.

This is a permanent position, ideally working full time (35 hours a week) although we would be happy to consider someone looking for part time hours. Nexer Digital offers flexible working hours and flexitime.

Some overseas travel (mostly to Europe) may also be required and some nights away from home are expected, but on an infrequent basis

You’ll be part of our sales team and will report directly to the Commercial Director, Shaun Gomm.

Salary: This role will fall in our Junior pay band. The salary would be £18-£20k basic depending on qualifications and experience.

Hiring process

We will look at all the submissions by 16th February 2024.

Following that, we will be in touch with the successful applications to arrange an informal phone or Teams interview. This was last around 30 minutes.

We will then ask for a face-to-face interview with potential hires at our Macclesfield office (although we can cover this remotely if needed). This will last roughly one hour and will be a more formal discussion with the Commercial Director and Managing Director.

Interviews will take place between 19th February and 1st March

Lastly, we hope to have made our final decisions no later than 4th March 2024.
