Who are we?
Nissan started production in Sunderland in July 1986, over 35 years ago this month. Since then the plant has grown into the biggest plant in the history of the UK automotive industry, supporting 46,000 UK jobs.
Current production in Sunderland includes the Nissan Qashqai, Juke and LEAF, most of which (70%) are exported to mainland Europe, with 20% sold in the UK and a further 10% exported to markets than span the globe, from South America to Australia, and from the Nordics to South Africa.
You will be joining us at a very exciting time as we support Nissan’s corporate vision of carbon neutrality. EV36ZERO is a £1 billion investment turning Nissan Sunderland into a flagship Electric Vehicle (EV) Hub creating a world-first EV manufacturing ecosystem.
Nissan will invest up to £423 million to produce a new-generation all-electric vehicle in Sunderland. Building on our expertise in crossovers and the worldwide success of the Nissan LEAF, it promises next-generation vehicle styling, efficiency and battery technology, making the switch to electric driving even more accessible.
As part of our Supply Chain Management team, you will ensure the global supply needs for our products are met. You will operate in a highly diverse environment where no two days are the same! It’s a complex, multi-dimensional operation covering logistics, inventory control, project management and supplier relationship management. Without the Supply Chain Management team the accolade of being the UK’s largest car manufacturer would not be possible.
We are an integral part of Nissan and we are responsible for getting the right parts and vehicles, to the right place, at the right time, at the right cost. There are a variety of roles available within the SCM function:
- PRODUCTION PLANNING work with internal production shops to schedule their production, and interface with the Sales & Marketing team to understand customer demand.
- PARTS CONTROL manage the inbound supply of components from a global supply base whilst maintaining lean inventory levels.
- DESIGN CHANGE CONTROL work as an interface between the Design team and the manufacturing plant to ensure the smooth introduction of material changes.
- INBOUND LOGISTICS liaise daily with logistics providers to design and engineer innovative and cost-effective global logistics solutions.
- OUTBOUND LOGISTICS are responsible for the delivery of vehicles from all production sources to final dealer locations across international overseas markets.
ILN are responsible for the flow of parts from our local supply base to our global Nissan Customer Plants.
The role is within our OUTBOUND LOGISTICS function which is responsible for the delivery of vehicles from all production sources to final dealer locations across international overseas markets.
The successful candidate will work cross functionally with a breath of stakeholders where communication, flexibility and a proactive approach are key requirements of the role.
Outline and Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Supply Chain Quality Technical Officer, with drive and initiative, to be part of our dynamic team. You will play a key role in ensuring vehicles pass through the care of SCM to final dealer, to the right level of quality and with minimal delay. Expediting vehicles, risk prevention, auditing and trend analysis are some of the core responsibilities of the successful candidate, the role also involves some facility engineering.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
Experience in Supply Chain, Vehicle Quality, or related technical function.
