Summary

We are looking for a Senior Advisor to join our team at the Regulator of Social Housing. The successful candidate will lead and manage a portfolio of complex and high-profile casework across a range of registered providers where there is a likelihood of a failure and potential serious issues with the Regulatory Standards. The role can be based in either Manchester, Leeds, Bristol or Birmingham.

Job Description

The Senior Advisor will lead on a range of cases, across the economic standards, being responsible for developing the strategy for resolution, dealing directly with a range of stakeholders such as registered providers, advisors and funders and co-ordinating a team to deal with all aspects of a case to drive change within an organisation. They will ensure that steps are taken to put right the failings, protecting tenants and their homes and helping to support the continued supply of funding into the sector.

They will act as the operational lead managing the most serious cases, across the regulatory standards, responsible for leading the cross functional team and also advising and supporting the teams across the organisation on other cases.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be accountable for analysing and evaluating financial and corporate information about registered providers performance and developing, implementing and delivering effective and proportionate strategies to resolve the most serious and complex cases to determine an appropriate regulatory response. They will work in partnership with regulation staff, including the in-house legal team to agree the appropriate use of statutory enforcement or intervention powers ensuring they are employed effectively and proportionately so that the RSH’s interests are protected in their use.

They will use expert financial and corporate governance knowledge of our non-compliant casework processes to develop and maintain policies, procedures and guidance on the use of the RSH’s powers, investigation and enforcement, and on the effective resolution of performance failures in registered providers providing advice, guidance and training to others to assist them in discharging their responsibilities.

Location

Our offices have now re-opened and we are moving towards a hybrid model of working with a mix of office / home working.

RSH’s core offices are in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol. Our posts can be successfully carried out from any RSH office unless otherwise specified in the job information. We offer flexible working arrangements and staff can work from home for part of their hours. Most roles involve some travel within England between our offices, and some roles also involve onsite visits to social housing providers.

In line with Government requirements to reduce the number of Civil Service and NDPB roles based in London, we only advertise roles in London which need to be there for business-critical reasons

Interviews

Interview dates are w/c 1 May and will be held via Microsoft Teams in line with our current hybrid working model.

Salary

The salary for this role is a spot salary within the given range, which will normally be the minimum of the range. There is no incremental progression through a pay scale. Annual salary reviews are determined by the government pay award. In addition, when the probation period is successfully completed, a performance related bonus may be awarded, based on appraisal ratings at the end of the qualifying appraisal year.

Any move to the Regulator from another employer will mean you can no longer access childcare vouchers. This includes moves between government departments.
