Full Time / 37 Hours / Fixed Term 6 Months
We are looking for Stores Assistants to join our housing team at Leycroft road.
As a Stores Assistant you receive, prepare and allocate materials for our Housing Repairs and Voids teams. Keeping stock levels is a vital service to ensure the smooth running of our service.
Our working hours for stores are 08:00-16:00 Monday to Thursday 08:00-15:30 Fridays, you’ll also be asked to work occasional Saturday and work on the emergency standby rota.
Joining this supportive team, you’ll use your knowledge of building materials as well as being proficient in clerical and administrative support to ensure an accurate inventory management system is maintained.
What you’ll be doing
Aiming to provide an efficient and effective Stores service on a day to day you’ll carry out Store’s duties from the arrival of deliveries to issuing the requested materials, all while keeping up to date systems and following Corporate Health and Safety guidance.
Utilising your experience of storekeeping, you’ll arrange delivery of materials to site. Upon delivery you’ll unload, log and prepare requested materials. When a request is received, you’ll issue materials, plant, tools, and other equipment as required. Being through is key to this role, you’ll check the correct authorisation has been granted and the computer system is updated.
You’ll also assist with maintaining stock at approved levels, completing stock checks and periodic stock takes.
What you’ll need
Working within our stores you’ll need a forklift truck driving certificate or equivalent or must be willing to work towards achieving this. Using your knowledge of the basic procedure for the Stores you’ll have a general awareness of house building and maintenance materials. You’ll also need previous experience in a computerised environment being confident in storekeeping and clerical/admin procedures within this. You’ll also need to be able to complete manual handling tasks.
