Part time Support Worker at Inspire PTL
Job Description
Inspire has been supporting adults with learning disabilities in Inverurie since the organisation was first established more than 30 years ago, and today we operate a range of services within the town. We have 2 housing support services, 1 respite service, 1 day service/charity shop and we also operate a community living project where the majority of those we support live independently in their own homes, whilst a small number live with their families.
We currently have vacancies for a part time Support Workers, 21 hours per week to join our established team within our busy day service and shop.
Our Inspire…By Inverurie day service currently operates from our Charity Shop in the centre of Inverurie, supporting 35 people, male and female who live in Inverurie and the surrounding area, with various support packages. The main working hours will be 9am – 5pm Monday – Saturday. You will be working directly with individuals in a large group environment and also with members of the public
whilst undertaking general shop duties.
Support work within the shop is really varied. One day you might be helping sort out donations, using the till, serving customers and other shop duties, and the next you could be accompanying people to an activity session or assisting the people we support to upscale furniture, make soaps, candles and other crafts to sell within the shop. Each day is different and the daily schedules are routinely
discussed so everyone knows what is expected. There is never a quiet moment in the shop.
The people currently supported by Inspire in Inverurie also have a mixture of communication levels and physical capabilities, which adds further to the variety of the role. No two days are ever the same.
Although our work can be challenging, it is also immensely rewarding as Support Workers play a vital role in developing and maintaining the important life skills and encouraging the participation and integration required for the people we support to flourish and get the best out of life.
What’s In It For You?
You don’t need to have any previous experience in social care to apply – we are more interested in your values and transferable skills. We will ensure you go through a comprehensive induction and training programme before your first shift and support you to achieve a funded SVQ 3 in Health & Social Care (SCQF level 7) qualification. Ongoing staff support, regular appraisals and a fully-paid training programme is also provided.
There are plenty of other benefits that come with working for Inspire, apart from having the opportunity for real personal development and growth and getting to know and spending lots of time with the people we support.
Permanent Inspire Support Workers in the Inspire…By Inverurie Service receive up to £11 an hour. There is also a competitive sick pay entitlement, generous life assurance policy, company pension contribution, the option to buy annual leave and a £200 Refer a Friend scheme.
What Are You Waiting For?
If you have a caring nature, and are respectful, compassionate, nurturing and inclusive, then we would love you to join our team here in Inverurie and help us continue supporting local adults with learning disabilities to live fulfilled and happy lives.
