ASD and Behaviour Teaching Assistant

LTF Recruitment are currently partnered with a number of Primary Schools within the Derby region who are in search of an ASD and Challenging Behaviour Specialist TA to join their dedicated team of support staff. The role will involve working alongside their KS1 and KS2 pupils with challenging behaviour and autism. The school has excellent SEN facilities, and all children are welcomed in the school’s inclusive community. And are all pushed to achieve their greatest potential. This full-time role is available for an immediate start and for the right person will be made permanent.
Main duties will entail:
- Working closely with the SENDCo and class teachers to encourage interaction with lessons and the curriculum.
- Working with students requiring additional support both on a 1:1 basis and within smaller group environments.
- Supporting children with reading writing and their work.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working with children in a school environment is desirable
- An excellent understanding of special educational needs including ASD, ADHD, challenging behaviour, and developmental delays.
- Calming mannerisms in challenging situations.
- The ability to think and act quickly both as part of a team and independently.
- Strong behaviour management skills while creating a fun learning environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
